Joe Hill

I stayed home sick today; and I'm barely making it through with a steady diet of juice, Harry Potter, coffee, movies about foreheads from outer space (more on that later), and this.....

tada...........

This is not a new book - it was published in October 2005. But I just bought it recently to read on the plane and finished it up today. Hands down, one of the best (if not the best) collections of short stories by a single author that I've ever read.

If you aren't already aware, Joe Hill is the son of Stephen King....although I'm pretty sure you won't see that mentioned anywhere in the introductions or on the covers of the book. I don't think he admitted a connection to his famous father until his second book Heart Shaped Box, published in 2007, came out. Which is another book I highly recommend.

The author also has a new book out, called Horns, and a comic book series called Locke and Key that is going to be made into a TV series. If I wasn't so under the weather, i could probably be bothered to look that stuff up, lol.

Hey, Mama. I'm just on reading Heart Shaped Box now (on the recommendation of Bryce from Things that Don't Suck) and thoroughly enjoying it. I hadn't got as far as investigating the other books so thanks for this. Will definitely give the short stories a go if you recommend them.

Hmmmm. I'm intrigued. I absolutely adored Heart-Shaped Box, so I'm all for checking out his short stories.

Feel better!

I LOVE 20th Century Ghosts. Buttonboy is my favorite story. I also loved Heart Shaped Box. I just finished reading Horns. It was good, but not nearly as good as his first two books.

Thanks, everyone. I had a nice surprise being called off work today; the extra rest did me some good. I think if you like Heart Shaped Box, you'll like the short stories as well. I'll also be checking out Horns eventually but I'd like to catch up on a few things I have around here first.

I have read Heart Shaped Baox and really enjoyed it. I have downloaded this book on my new Kindle ( that my wonderful Daughter got me for Xmas and I love it) I really liked Button Boy too!! I have always been a Stephen King Lover and was thrilled to see that his son can write great books too! I will be reading Horns next.
